November 11th Winamp is… dead?

Wow, talk about bad timing to say that I prefer Winamp over Foobar. Apparently Winamp is now dead. Development has stopped, and the entire original team has left. AOL (didn’t know this until a few minutes ago, but apparently AOL bought out Nullsoft in ‘99 for around 100 million dollars) has all but stopped development of NSV, and Shoutcast2 will never be released. There are all of three employees working on Winamp now, who are planning to release only minor bug fixes.

BetaNews has a really interesting article on Nullsoft and AOL’s relationship over the years.

*sigh*

I guess… I like Foobar2K now.
